Insecticide Lobotomy opened the night was half an hour of ambient textures during the building of the bonfire, followed by some of the loudest and harshest noise I've created to date. The night was a rare trifecta where I also performed with android: agitated as well as a noise jam with Black Beast of Arrrghhh and 2/3 of the Uh... Also performing that night was M31 and Cozmonot 13 and the live debut of Carbon-13.

Open mic nights are for everyone, so we got a bunch of Tampa and St. Petersburg noisers to come out and cause a riot. On hand was Otolathe, Insecticide Lobotomy, Danny McGuire, Chris from Blast, Justin Robert and Rich from theVillains. Due to time restraints two super groups were formed out the 6 people to perform. The Danny McGuire group that I am currently a part of is now actively gigging as Turnip Jubilee.

The Black Beast of Arrrghhh opened the night followed by sw33t t4rt's noise debut. She laid down the space noise before I dropped some drunken caustic science on the crowd. Skiffle and Thee Heidlecrumbs graced us with their presence before Cozmonot13 and M31 (thirtyonethirteen) threw down some crazy textures. M31 also filled in on guitar for the Uh... (Mike had the flu). Cozmonot13 also came back to keep the Uh...'s set going a bit longer.

Faces Art Exhibit

The art exhibit featured 20 local and national artists. After being asked to turn down a bit during sound check, I opened the night with some back to basics wall noise. M31 brought the crowd back down with his brand of spacey electronics followed by the Uh... No one was ready for that spectacle. Insect Joy closed off the night with feedback drones, drum beats and a toy sax. DJ Cub was also spinning in another part of the venue.

St. Petersburg Noise Festival
Café Bohemia, St. Petersburg, FL

The first annual St. Petersburg Noise Fest brought to you in part by the St. Petersburg Institute of Noise. The show went for over 12 hours and featured Hal McGee and Otolathe (as the Rocket Surgeons), M31, Skiffle, Ironing, chefkirk, Kristen Calvarese and a mirade of other performers from around the state and abroad. I ended up playing mid afternoon and learned a value lesson about red LED's and sunlight (they don't mix). The set was highlighted by my card table almost collapsing.

The rain didn't stop the noise in St. Petersburg. Rocked out with the man from outer space; M31, along with Microwave Windows vs. The Adjective Noun (954 Noise Collective), Duet for Theremin & Lap Steel (from Atlanta) and Good Noise Bad Noise (all the way from the UK).

It was a school night but I still got to tear it up with the amazing Xrin Arms, the ever so catchy Pony Pants and the newly renamed Blast and the Detergents with a little help from Danny McGuire to close out the night.

Changed it up and brought out some metal pop corn bowls to use as sound sources. The night was shared with Breed the Circus, Mad Holy Cow Disease and The Adjective Noun from the 954 Collective as well as the grinding beats and gutteral screams of The Power of the Lion.

Su Sous Toulouse en Rogue tore it up outside before we got scared inside due to the possibility of rain. The party continued inside with the antics of 3p1L3pT1c F1t, a long drawn out set by my self and monsterous distorted beats from Otolathe.

There's nothing like sweating your ass off in an abandoned cigar factory with no A/C to mark your first official noise gig. Despite the heat, Big Sugar Victorious, Kristin Calvarese, Otolathe, Nous Rapport, Insecticide Lobotomy, half of HUNKER DOWN ROY, Phantom Limb Syndrome and Lissajou performed.

First unofficial noise gig. The thrash metal dudes at the open mic weren't really too sure what to do with someone with a giant pedal board and no guitar. The set started with the host of the evening asking if I was still setting up my gear even though I had already started my set. By the end someone came up to me and said, "man, when I came out tonight, I was hurtin', but you healed me man, you healed me."
